  Central Artist:  Bob Marley Bob Marleys real name was Robert Nesta Marley OM (February 6, 1945-1981) and he was born in Nine Miles, Jamaica. He was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and guitarist pioneered reggae music by fusing reggae, ska and rocksteady music together and he has 11 children. In 1963, Bob Marley and two of his friends (Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer) formed the group 'The Wailers'. He found solace in music by infusing his music with spirituality and peace. Bob Marley's most famous song was 'The Redemption Song' which he created with the Wailers. This blog will focus on a mixture of Carribean Music that ventures from Jamaica to the Dominican Republic to Calypso music and more. Although the last one isn't a Carribean music, its soul music, I just felt it fit the tune, and I had to get it off my mind. First up, we have Bob Marley & The Wailers singing ' The Redemption Song'. Robert Nesta Marley (1945-1981) formerly known as 'Bob Marley' was a Jamaican singer, songwriter and guitarist and known for his reggae, ska, and rocksteady music. Reggae became a popular genre of music because of Bob Marley. He was a Rastafarian and started his music career in 1963 by forming a group called the Wailers. The Wailers consisted of Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, Bunny Livingston, Bob Marley, Peter McIntosh, and Cherry Smith. Before he died, they went on to create popular hit songs like ' Buffalo Soldier', 'Get Up, Stand Up', 'War' and many more. This type of music made people sing along to it...

This blog consists of various genres of Bahamian music such as rake n' scrape, classical, junkanoo, calyspo and choir. First, we have The Bahamas' First Conch shell choir which was directed by Christian Justilien who is a UB assistant professor and consist of his ensemble. The instruments in this ensemble are conchs, rake and scrape and drums. Christian Justilien has created and taught different forms of music. It's not that often to see conch shells incorporated into creating music. Justilien is the leader and founder of Colours Entertainment and Junkanoo Cooperation and has a music degree in the Bachelor of Arts from Berklee College of Music.
